San Jose

The San Jose AHORA Student Day was held on December 11, 2014 at San Jose City College (SJCC) in the heart of Silicon Valley. After welcoming remarks by Jorge Escobar, SJCC, students heard from Julie Lynn, Selective Service System (SSS), and Guillermo Diaz, Cisco Systems. Panelists included Rodolfo Alatorre, AT&T; Kathleen Martinez, BP; and Dennis Jaramillo, Cisco Systems. Thanks to Cisco Systems, Symantec, SSS, BP,  SJCC, the teachers and students from Willow Glen High School and Latino College Preparatory Academy, and all who attended.

Orlando

The Orlando AHORA Student Day was held on January 29, 2015 at University High School. Keynote remarks were given by Jesus Jara, Deputy Superintendent, Orange County Public Schools (OCPS). Panelists included Melissa Saelzer, Lockheed Martin; entrepreneur Angela Alban, SIMETRI; Capt. Luis Posada, formerly of the U.S. Navy; and Adriana Guerrero, Siemens. The Los Angeles AHORA Student Day took place on March 18, 2015 at the Social Justice Humanitas Academy (SJHA) in the San Fernando Valley. Participants were welcomed by principal Jose Navarro before remarks by Evelyn Zneimer, SSS, and Anthony Garcia, ITT Technical Institute. Panelists included Rocky Egusquiza, NBCUniversal; Nikole Reed, Nissan; and Heidy Arriola, Society of Professional Engineers(SHPE). The Houston AHORA Student Day took place on February 26, 2015 at Austin High School. Students were greeted by  principal Steve Guerrero, followed by diversity expert Helen Cavazos, and Dr. Tatcho Mindiola, U. of Houston. Keynote remarks were given by Gabe Cuadra, BP. Panelists included Arturo Sanchez, NASA; Denar Flores, BP; and Beronica Morales, LNESC.  Students also attended from Energy Institute High School and Cristo Rey. Many thanks to BP, Nissan, NASA, Austin HIgh School, U. of Houston and all who attended.
